Kuakata, southern Bangladesh, is a hidden treasure offering a unique experience of watching the sunrise and sunset over the same place! 🌞🌙 Being from Chattogram, I always wanted to visit this quiet coastal village, and finally, I spent two nights and three days there. So here’s a little sneak peek at my amazing trip: some travel info, costs, things to do, and handy tips for other travelers like me. 🚗💙
The Trip: Kuakata to Chattogram 🚍
The journey from Chattogram to Kuakata took around 6-7 hours by bus. While the roads are in decent condition, it’s still a long ride, so be prepared for a bit of a road trip adventure! I opted for a private bus service which cost me around BDT 600-800 one way. If you want a more comfortable ride, renting a car could be a great option, though it will cost a bit more. 🚗💨

Accommodation & Costs 💸🏨

For a cozy 2-night stay, I booked a mid-range hotel right by the beach, with rooms priced at about BDT 2000-3000 per night. If you’re traveling on a budget, you can easily find guesthouses or local hotels for as low as BDT 1000 per night! It was an unforgettable experience!

2. Relaxation, Sand, and Sun at the Beach 🏖️🌊 The beach is serene and ideal for leisurely strolls. I took in the stunning surroundings as I walked down the shore for hours. During my stay, the weather was excellent, which added to the enjoyment. 🌞 For a short ride, I also leased a boat, which, depending on the length of time, cost between BDT 500 and 1000 per person. 🚤

3. Examining the Island of Fatrar Char 🏝 I visited Fatrar Char, a peaceful island close to Kuakata, by boat. This location is less busy and has the kind of unspoiled environment that makes it the perfect place to unwind. I strolled around and took in the peace of the sea for a few hours. 🌊

4. Cultural Exploration: Mosques & Temples 🕌🙏 I spent some time learning about the local way of life while I was in Kuakata. I went to the serene Kuakata Buddhist Temple and the well-known Latachapli Mosque. These historically significant locations provide a window into the region’s cultural diversity. The mood was particularly quiet and serene inside the Buddhist temple. 🕊
