Exploring Kuakata: A Blissful 3-Day Getaway from Chattogram π π

Kuakata, southern Bangladesh, is a hidden treasure offering a unique experience of watching the sunrise and sunset over the same place! ππ Being from Chattogram, I always wanted to visit this quiet coastal village, and finally, I spent two nights and three days there. So here’s a little sneak peek at my amazing trip: some travel info, costs, things to do, and handy tips for other travelers like me. ππ
The Trip: Kuakata to Chattogram π
The journey from Chattogram to Kuakata took around 6-7 hours by bus. While the roads are in decent condition, itβs still a long ride, so be prepared for a bit of a road trip adventure! I opted for a private bus service which cost me around BDT 600-800 one way. If you want a more comfortable ride, renting a car could be a great option, though it will cost a bit more. ππ¨
Accommodation & Costs πΈπ¨
For a cozy 2-night stay, I booked a mid-range hotel right by the beach, with rooms priced at about BDT 2000-3000 per night. If youβre traveling on a budget, you can easily find guesthouses or local hotels for as low as BDT 1000 per night! Many accommodations offer stunning sea views, making it the perfect spot to unwind. πποΈ
Activities in Kuakata: Relaxation, Sun, and Fun π΄π
Kuakata is renowned for its lengthy, pristine beaches, which make it the perfect destination for a restful getaway. I did the following throughout my three days there:
1. Sunrise and Sunset: An Enchanting Moment ππ One of the few locations in Bangladesh where you may witness both sunrise and sunset simultaneously is Kuakata! π I made it a point to get up early every day in order to see the magnificent dawn, and I naturally made sure not to miss the gorgeous views of the beach at sunset. It was an unforgettable experience!
2. Relaxation, Sand, and Sun at the Beach ποΈπ The beach is serene and ideal for leisurely strolls. I took in the stunning surroundings as I walked down the shore for hours. During my stay, the weather was excellent, which added to the enjoyment. π For a short ride, I also leased a boat, which, depending on the length of time, cost between BDT 500 and 1000 per person. π€
3. Examining the Island of Fatrar Char π I visited Fatrar Char, a peaceful island close to Kuakata, by boat. This location is less busy and has the kind of unspoiled environment that makes it the perfect place to unwind. I strolled around and took in the peace of the sea for a few hours. π
4. Cultural Exploration: Mosques & Temples ππ I spent some time learning about the local way of life while I was in Kuakata. I went to the serene Kuakata Buddhist Temple and the well-known Latachapli Mosque. These historically significant locations provide a window into the region’s cultural diversity. The mood was particularly quiet and serene inside the Buddhist temple. π
Cost Estimate π°
Below is a summary of my estimated travel expenses:
Round-trip bus transportation: BDT 1600β2000
Two nights’ lodging: BDT 4000-6000
Food & Dining: BDT 1500β2000 (local eateries and street food)
Activities: BDT 1000β1500 (boat ride, sightseeing, etc.)
Estimated total cost: BDT 8,000β11,000.
Conclusion π
If you wish to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life, reconnect with nature, Kuakata is just an ideal place. Reasonable prices, gorgeous scenery, and quiet beaches make it perfect for everyone. Nature lovers or people who just want to relax will find Kuakata the perfect destination. I highly recommend this beautiful village as your next vacation spot. ππ΄
